Story

Star Wars: Conquest is a third/first-person role playing and shooter video game based around battles featured in the Star Wars movies and the expanded universe. It is a total conversion of Mount & Blade, standing as one of its multiple modules.

The modification got an early release as the 'Star Wars mod' in July 13 2008, which added equipment from the Star Wars universe to the Native module (vanilla game). Since then the development continued, having a series of releases of public beta versions. On March 13 2010 another public version was released on Mod DB.

After a long hiatus, in 2012 the development team strengthened with a bunch of new members, ending in a release which provided stability, heaps of new content and long overdue fixes. Two releases later, and after an almost complete facelift, a Warband version was scheduled to be released in a ballpark date of 2013.

Gameplay

Under the Galactic Conquest mode the game features the Star Wars galaxy in a main campaign map. The player is able to choose his/her race, abilities, and enter the world allied to any of the main factions, or remain independent. Once started, the character can move freely around the galaxy, visiting any of the Star Wars planets, such as Geonosis or Yavin IV.

The mod includes a great number of active characters, who move throughout the galaxy besieging, defending, raiding or holding each of the locations. These individuals (commanders, bounty hunters, sith... etc) might ally or engage the player's character, who can even get missions from them.

The main factions featured are the Galactic Empire, the Rebel Alliance and the Hutt Cartel. But the player can also spot patrols belonging to other minor factions, such as Black Sun or the Tusken raiders. The player can choose whether to help any of the major ones and maybe enter war, or stay alone as a merchant, assassin, arena fighter.

Customization Elements

The game lets the player cutomize its character by buying armor weapons, speeders and other gadgets. The player can visit the merchants around the galaxy and find from vibroswords to thermal detonators. The loot option is in as well, which lets you recover items from the fallen units after battle.

Star Wars Conquest also features a series of shipyards, were the character can buy some of the existent ships depending on the amount of credits he or she has. These locations, settled above some planets like Kuat or Fondor, let you apply for a loan, and offer different ships depending on the station's tradition. In Corellia for example, the player might be able to find a Corellian gunship.

Apart from these, the character can also gather it's own crew or army, and choose its own banner and culture. If the player manages to conquer any of the planets he might be able to found a new faction, which he or she can name and rule.

Content

The game lets the player live the period of the Galactic Civil War, starting in 1ABY. The jedi remaining are few, and the criminals prosper while the Empire and the Rebelion fight the one another across the galaxy. The Hutt Cartel is also a potential enemy for the Empire and the Rebels. The Second Deathstar is in construction, but operative, and both pirates and deserters aren't difficult to find.

The player can encounter famous characters like Yoda or Darth Vader, and companions like Kyle Katarn. It is possible to find items from the Clone Wars, and even some from the times of the Old Republic. In the game the character can also get to build clone chambers, droid factories, force-sensitive temples and rancor pits, which let him raise units different to the normal recruits.
